Therapy
For people who look like they're coping.
I'm Alex — a Dramatherapist in Brighton & Hove, working with people who are getting through the days while carrying a lot more underneath than anyone else realises.
You might be here because:
You're managing, but underneath you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or like you're barely holding it together.
Since becoming a mother, the ways you used to cope don't seem to work the way they used to.
You're starting to wonder — maybe later than you expected — whether you're autistic or have ADHD.
You're young, and it feels like everyone else got handed a manual for how to be a person that you never received.
You're just tired. Tired of managing. Tired of people telling you that you seem fine.
How I work
I'm not going to pretend I am here to fix you. I'm interested in helping you understand yourself, make sense of your story, and find a different way of relating to what you're carrying.I don't work as a blank slate — I'll be a real, present person with you. I'm a Dramatherapist, which means I sometimes draw on storytelling, metaphor, objects or imagination alongside talking — though nobody's ever expected to perform or act. Plenty of our work will simply be conversation. My approach is warm, relational and person-centred, and IFS-informed.
What I work with
Anxiety, low mood, burnout, overwhelm, identity, self-esteem, trauma, difficult life transitions, problematic alcohol or substance use, and relationship difficulties — with particular experience supporting neurodivergent adults and young people, LGBTQ+ young people, young carers, and survivors of abuse or stalking. I'm LGBTQ+ affirming.
Practical details
I work with young people aged 15 and up, as well as adults. Sessions are available online or in person in Brighton & Hove.
My rates are £70 for 50 mins and I offer some cossession rates for self funding 18-26 year olds and for mothers on maternity leave.
I know contacting a therapist can feel like a big step. There's no pressure to share more than you're ready to, whenever you're ready to.
Before we start working together, I offer an initial 20-minute call on Zoom, just to get a sense of how I might be able to help. If you're a teenager, you're welcome to bring a parent along to that first call — totally your call, whatever feels right for you.
